At Evesham Veterinary Clinic, we can diagnose and treat most heart conditions in dogs and cats. It starts with taking a history and doing a thorough physical examination which includes listening to the heart and lungs with a stethoscope. In this manner many heart murmurs can be detected before they become significant problems.
Depending on the need, we can also measure blood pressure, do electrocardiograms (EKG), or take thoracic radiographs (chest x-rays).
Common cardiac medications include pimobendan (Vetmedin), enalapril (Enacard), and furosemide (Lasix). With treatment, many pets can enjoy extended lifespans with improved quality of life.
Dr. Michael Miller is available for echocardiograms and consultations.
